La Belle Helene

La Belle Helene

Opera at Bearwood

Reddam House Theatre
Bearwood Road, Wokingham
Berkshire
RG41 5BG

Please join us for this year's production of Offenbach's La Belle Helene. Like Orpheus in the underworld, the operetta is an irreverent and hilarious take on Greek mythology and the scurrilous goings-on that led up to the Trojan war.
It's the story of Paris and Helen and her abduction by the Trojan prince disguised as a shepherd.
A feast of melody with a zany plot - it caused a minor scandal in Paris in the 1860s with it's innuendo and suggestive lyrics.
It's and ideal show for the summer evening, providing fun and laughter, with none of the dead bodies that often litter the stage in more serious operas

There are three performances: Thursday 19th, Friday 20th, and Saturday 21st July.
